A Whisper is Enough
A whisper is enough for me.
A whisper is enough to send
your promise that in faith you’ll see
life’s journey to its end.
I left. It’s hard to say goodbye.
The Father’s just and perfect plan
designed it thus. Now you must try
to live as best you can
until that time when we once more
will be as one, that moment when
the closeness that we prized before
will be restored again.
It’s not by chance that I am here.
My death has purpose, as did too
my life. Your life—it’s also clear—
still has its work to do.
Your journey now, your sacred call,
requires your heart, might, mind, and soul.
My mission too demands my all.
We share a common goal.
I’ll silent watch while we’re apart
as you our children faithful raise.
I hope that often in your heart
you’ll feel my spirit’s gaze.
Life’s test requires that you not see
my countenance nor hear my speech,
and yet my ears will always be
within your whisper’s reach.
The veil conceals my face from you.
To live by faith is still your choice.
But nothing now obscures my view,
and I still hear your voice.
Pray always to our God above.
In all give thanks. Confess His hand,
His matchless grace, His endless love,
His will, His perfect plan.
And each night, as you end your prayer,
before you sleep, remember too
the loving soul who waits to share
eternity with you.
A whisper is enough for me
A whisper is enough to send
your promise that in faith you’ll see

Poet‘s comments about “A Whisper is Enough”
I believe that the veil that separates us from the Spirit World only works one way. When we pass from this life and the knowledge of our eternal preexistence is restored, I’m quite sure that that knowledge will greatly alter the way we perceive our own completed mortal experience as well as the continuing mortal experience of those we have left behind but whom we continue to hold dear. I also believe that with that expanded understanding, once we penetrate that veil, we will look back through it with great interest at the lives of those bound to us by covenant and the sealing power of the Priesthood. I find both comfort and motivation in my conviction that those who have gone before us can both see and hear the events of our lives; and although I certainly would not advocate that we speak directly to them (better to spend that time speaking with, and listening to, our Heavenly Father), I think that an occasional acknowledgement in our thoughts, and perhaps even an audible whisper, is appreciated.
