Poetry
I wrote "The Willow Switch", my first and still my favorite poem, in September and October of 2000. Its narrative inspired the novel by the same name, and the poem figures in an important way in the novel. Therefore, you'll not see it right away here on the web site--you'll have to buy the novel or my book of poetry, A Sermon in Every Poem. The same is true of "The Doll in McCallaway's Store". The poem came first; the novel followed. You will find here most of my other poems. Simply click on the title of any of the week's ten featured poems from the list to the right, and it will appear magically on your screen. I change the combination of those ten poems every couple of weeks. If you haven't read much poetry, I recommend that you first go to the thoughts and reflections page and read my essay on how to read poetry.
I have published my first 45 poems in a collection I call A Sermon in Every Poem. It is now available through this website and as a Kindle download through Amazon.com. Go to the ordering info page to learn how to purchase your copy.
