The Willow Switch
My second novel is a first-person narrative of a young man's journey through adolescence. The emotional and spiritual scars left by an abusive father heal slowly but surely, thanks to a steady diet of a stepfather's love and example, and to his unique method for teaching faith and self-discipline. Stepsister, mother, and family friends also join in the cause. Several of the characters in the novel come already well-known to you if you've read The Doll in McCallaway's Store, but the first-person narrator does not assume this knowledge as he introduces and develops the characters in his own story from his unique perspective. The novel's message is timeless because it speaks to anyone who has ever overcome personal adversity through faith in Christ and the love and support of good people.
